AL Waha Petrochemicals Company was established in September 2006 as an affiliate where "SAHARA Petrochemicals" owns most of its shares. The project is located in Jubail Industrial City in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia.

AL Waha Petrochemicals Company is a limited liability company established to construct, own, and operate a petrochemical complex on an international scale to produce 460.000 tons of propylene which is the feedstock for the production of 450,000 tons of polypropylene that will be sold both in regional and international markets.
Al Waha Petrochemicals Company was developed by "SAHARA Petrochemicals" and Lyondell Basell companies where they own 75% and 25% respectively. The foundation agreement was signed on the first of December 2004. The project makes use of the availability of propane as a feedstock and nearby facilities in one of the pioneer industrial areas in Saudi Arabia for petrochemicals that will be a competing source in the strongly developing international propylene market.
The development of AL Waha Petrochemicals Company represents a major part of the strategic plan of the Saudi private sector for the development of petrochemical industry. AL Waha Petrochemicals Company produces polypropylene products with high specifications where it will replace products that are now imported from abroad. The company also employs opportunities for high quality Saudi citizens and training in an environment that is committed to safety and product dependability as added priorities.
