Tasnee & SAHARA Olefins Company in addition to the GOSI establishment who owns 75% of the capital of Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company, Lyondell Bassell group owns the rest i.e., 25%. Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company is performing the development, financing, construction, experimental operation, owning, managing and operating of an international petrochemical complex for the production of 1.000K tons of Ethylene of which 80% will be used as basic feedstock for the production of approximately 400K tons of high density Polyethylene and the production of approximately 400,000 tons of low density Polyethylene.
Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company and its production facilities are in Jubail Industrial City. The company has started successfully the commercial production for its facilities in July 2009.
The low & high Polyethylene products will be sold fully in the international markets according to long term marketing agreements with the manufacturing company for petrochemicals and Lyondell Bassell company. The rest of the Ethylene product that are not consumed in the production of Polyethylene will be sold according to long term agreements to the Saudi partners including "SAHARA Petrochemicals" for their uses in the production facilities of the other subsidiary companies such as " AL Waha Petrochemicals Company".
The development of the project represents a major part of the strategic Saudi private sector plan for the development of petrochemical industry where the project produces products of high specifications where they will replace products that are now imported from abroad. Also the project provides job opportunities of high benefits for the Saudi citizens and training in an environment that is committed with safety and product dependability and forward priorities.
