Saudi Acrylic Company is a joint-venture Company being developed by TSOC and Rohm and Hass of America who will each own 75% and 25% shares of its shares respectively. Joint-venture agreement was signed in April, 2008 in Riyadh to develop an integrated downstream petrochemical complex at Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia for production of Acrylic Acid, Commodity Acrylates and Superabsorbent Polymers. Propylene feedstock will be supplied by SEPC.
Products & Application
• Acrylic Esters (Acrylates): An esterification of Acrylic Acid and alcohols produces Acrylic Esters. It is manly used in paints, coating, textiles, plastic additives, adhesives, etc.
• Superabsorbent Polymers: Polymerization of Acrylic Acid produces Superabsorbent Polymers. It is mainly used in the production of baby diapers and feminine hygiene products. Other applications of the Superabsorbent Polymers are in construction materials, agriculture and food packaging.
