SAHARA Petrochemical Company has appointed Daelim - Korean company to execute project of caustic soda and ethylene dichloride (CA-EDC) to be constructed in SAHARA complex in Jubail Industrial City. A "letter of intent" has been sent to Dealim on Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 to begin the execution of the Preliminary work of the project.
Engr. Esam Himdy - Managing Director of Sahara, declared that CA-EDC project is a joint venture between Sahara PCC and Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) by 50% for each. Using UHDE manufacturing technology. The construction will be completed in the third quarter of 2012.
Engr. Saleh Bin Bahamdan –Executive President of Sahara PCC mentioned that: this project will add 550K tons of petrochemical product to overall SAHARA production. Were these products will be 250K tons/year of sodium hydroxide and 300K tons/year of ethylene dichloride, Also it will provide approximately 200 job opportunities can be increased by the gradual expansion of company projects.
